Gower’s pubs, restaurants, bistros and cafés provide a wide choice of venues, menus and prices to suit our visitors, from the elegance of five star dining to the fun of eating fish and chips on the beach. Many serve Gower specialities such as Gower salt marsh lamb, wild sea bass, laver bread and cockles.
For example, within striking distance of Lower Pitton Farmhouse, The View and The Worm's Head Hotel in Rhossili combine good food great coffee, with stunning views. Rhossili is a ten minute walk by road or a bracing forty minutes walk via the coastal path, with breathtaking views all the way.
Slightly further afield, but only minutes by car, The King Arthur Hotel (in Reynoldston) offer home-cooked meals in cosy, traditional country pub surroundings. At the Oxwich Bay Hotel (in Oxwich on the south Gower coast) you can enjoy seasonal menus using local produce and choose whether to dine in the restaurant/bar, in the unique Chestnut Room or alfresco overlooking the sea.
These are but a small selection of the many places to eat in Gower.
I am happy to help if you would like my personal recommendation or advice about where to eat/drink in Gower.
Gower’s beaches offer something for everyone; there are beaches and coves strung around the coastline, each with its own character, making each one unique. You will find easily-accessible, sandy beaches for the bucket and spade brigade as well as remote, rocky coves that are more challenging to discover but interesting to explore.
A well-signed path extends around the entire coast of Gower (and is part of the Round Wales Coastal Path). The sections along the high cliff tops, for example from Port Eynon to Rhossili, provide spectacular vantage points from which to survey the Bristol Channel for sightings of grey Atlantic seals, dolphins and porpoises.
Wherever you are on Gower’s beaches, please be reminded of a local motto, “Take nothing but memories, leave nothing but footprints”.
From Lower Pitton Farmhouse:
Whilst all Gower’s famous beaches are easily accessible by car from the farmhouse, some of the less well-known, more isolated and secluded spots are within walking distance of the front door at Pitton.

The geology and geography of the Gower peninsula combine to create varied habitats which support a correspondingly varied flora and fauna. As a result, within the relatively small area of the peninsula you will find a network of footpaths and rights of way connecting many different landscapes - for example, salt marsh, ancient woodland, open moorland, limestone cliffs, sandy beaches, shingle beaches, wooded valleys, sand dunes etc.
Gower is popular with birdwatchers all year round, but especially during the breeding season when some nationally rare species can be seen. For example, choughs (Pyrrhocorax pyrrhocorax) often nest on the limestone crags of the south Gower coast; as the range of the red kite (Milvus milvus) is extending south sightings of this spectacular raptor soaring overhead are becoming more frequent over Gower.
Many of the so-called "common" British wild flowers flourish in Gower. The wooded valleys of Caswell, Bishopston and Ilston, for example, are glorious in spring with primroses, anemones, bluebells and wild garlic. The grassy cliff tops from Oxwich all the way to Rhossili are carpeted with squills, rock roses, vetch etc during the summer. There is also the bonus of some rarities for the keen botanist to discover, such as Yellow Whitlow Grass (Draba azoides) which clings precariously to the walls of Pennard Castle (and on a few rocky ledges on limestone cliffs, high above the sea) and rare orchids that flower in the dune systems at Oxwich and Cwm Ivy.
The house is available for 12 people, but there is a cheaper rate for 8 plus if less people want to stay.
Out of season and weekdays I will take bookings for fewer guests.
The farmhouse is primarily available on an exclusive, weekly rental basis. Primarily booking is from Friday to Friday, but sometimes this rule can be broken.
I am happy to take bookings for groups of people self catering, short breaks, the price for which would be based on the number of guests and the number of nights. You would have exclusive use of the house for the period staying.
Out of season or short notice when the farmhouse as a whole is vacant, I am happy to let rooms on an overnight, per person basis. You are welcome to self-cater in the kitchen for meals, coffee and tea will be provided but please be aware you might be sharing the catering facilities with overnight occupants of other rooms.
If you require breakfast I can recommend The View that is 2 minutes up the road were you can enjoy a perfect breakfast overlooking the amazing Rhossili Bay.
